It begins with our state’s commitment to the defense of the United States.
Michigan is home to the Selfridge Air National Guard Base, the largest Air Force Base in the Reserve Component with all the amenities of an Active Component Installation. Selfridge ANGB has a ready-to-build site (42 deg 36’ 18.93” N / 82 deg 50’ 40.817” W) in a secure base setting meeting all of the Air Force’s technical requirements. The proposed site would amply meet the security, data transmission, and space requirements for the approximately 1,400 military and civilian personnel working in the new headquarters. In addition, if so desired, the base has over 111,000 square-feet readily available in four vacant buildings that could be used during an initial mission standup phase or as supplemental space when a new building is constructed.
Michigan is uniquely qualified by its immense resources of manufacturing expertise and skilled technicians, engineers and scientists to advance the critical mission of the U.S. Air Force’s newest command.
